Own It or Lose It: Taking Back Control of Your Calendar

Episode Summary

Your calendar fills up before you even decide what should be in it — one yes at a time, one open slot at a time. Owning it means blocking your priorities before anyone else gets the chance, and building in the buffer that lets you actually show up for what's next. A full calendar isn't the same thing as a calendar that works for you.

Key Points:

  • Most calendars fill up by default — through automatic yeses and invites accepted out of obligation — rather than by deliberate choice.

  • Protecting time for your priorities requires blocking it yourself, ideally during your sharpest hours, before anything else claims the space.

  • Building buffer time between meetings, especially virtual ones, gives you the transition your brain needs to actually be present for what's next.
